Apple, Google, and a $57 billion industry are betting on it. Here's what you can do about it.
I AM a personal trainer who...

Not the client relationships. Not the feeling of watching someone hit a goal. The job itself. If that excitement has been fading for a while, and you've been quietly wondering whether this is still what you want to be doing, you're not alone, and you're not wrong for feeling it.
Early mornings, back to back sessions, working through your own soreness while you coach someone else through theirs. You are the hardest worker in the room. The problem is, you keep showing up looking fine because you're fit and good at your job. But on the inside, you're continuously running on empty physically, mentally, and emotionally. Being tired isn't proof you're weak. It might be proof that in this job, the only way to make more is to give more of yourself, and there's only so much of yourself to give.
Now imagine giving all of that, everything you've got, to a job that might not need you much longer.
In May 2026, Google launched a $9 a month AI coach built with Gemini. Tell it your back hurts and it adjusts your workout on the spot. Snap a photo of your dinner and it analyzes it. It tracks your sleep and your readiness and changes your plan based on both, without you asking. It was built with a panel of medical experts, not just fitness influencers. If you think an app can't give the kind of personalized, expert guidance you give, think again. Apple is building the same thing.
This doesn't mean personal training disappears. It means the version of this career that first got you excited is turning into something else, whether you're ready or not. If leaving has already crossed your mind, the window to do it on your own terms just got smaller.
From Josh
A personal trainer. Early mornings, split shifts, chasing rebookings so I could pay rent that month. I was good at it. My clients trusted me. And somewhere in there, I still hit the same wall you might be facing right now. I loved helping people. I was tired of everything the job cost me to do it.
I didn't have a plan to leave. I didn't even fully admit to myself that I wanted to. Then, on a vacation I almost didn't take because I couldn't afford to lose the session income, someone offered me a sales role. Not because I had a resume for it. Because they watched how I talked to people, how I handled a no, how I got someone to actually believe in something before they'd admit it to themselves.
I said yes before I let myself talk myself out of it. I relocated. I started from zero in an industry I knew nothing about, on paper.
Except it turned out I wasn't starting from zero at all. Every skill that made me good at training made me good at sales. Getting someone to commit to a plan they were scared of. Handling their doubt without taking it personally. Showing up again after they said no the first time. I'd been doing all of it for years. I just never called it that.
That was 2017.
I'm not telling you this because I think everyone should quit training. I'm telling you because if the fire's gone and you don't know what you'd do instead, there's a real answer, and you already have more of what it takes than you think.
Become A Closer
It's a community and training path. You've already spent years building real skills: communication, trust, handling objections, getting someone to commit. Become A Closer turns those into a real, well paid sales career. Not a course that teaches you sales theory from scratch. A path for people who already have what it takes. They just never had anywhere to put it to use.
You'll learn how to translate what you already do into language the sales world actually pays for, get direct coaching from someone who's made this exact move, and join people going through the same shift at the same time, so you're not figuring this out alone.
This isn't about abandoning the reason you got into fitness in the first place. It's about finally getting paid what that skill set is actually worth.
One Year From Now
A year from now, you're not waking up at 5am for a session you're dreading. You're not doing the math on whether this month's sessions cover rent. You're not lying to people who ask how work is going, saying "it's good" when you've been quietly checked out for months.
Instead, you're on a call with someone who needs what you're offering, and you're doing exactly what you've always done best. Listening for what someone actually wants, even when they can't say it clearly yet. Reading their pushback for what it actually is, a question, not a rejection. Helping them commit to something that scares them, because you know they'll thank you for it later. Except now, that conversation isn't worth $30 to $80 for an hour of your time. It's worth $1,000 to $5,000, or more, in commission, for one signed deal.
You're still the person who helps someone believe they can change. That part never left. It just moved somewhere your income isn't capped by how many hours are in a day, and where showing up as your best self actually gets rewarded the way it should have all along.
Your Next Move
The assessment is a readiness check. Built around the specific skills, character traits, and mindset that separate people who thrive in sales from people who struggle.
You'll get your results right away, along with the specific thing most likely holding you back. Not a cookie cutter response. Yours.
Based on your results, you'll be shown exactly where to start if you wish to leave the training industry and transition to a high-income sales role. Not everyone is at the same point, and the right level of support looks different depending on where you are.
Every month you wait is another month the industry moves without you. Another month of split shifts, capped income, and quietly wondering if this is it. The version of this career you fell in love with is already changing. That's happening whether you take five minutes to figure out your next move or not.
You already have what it takes. You've been proving it for years. You just never called it sales.
Five minutes. Your score, your specific next step, no pressure either way.
I'm not writing this to sell you something. I'm writing it because I wish someone had written it to me when I was a trainer. I was good at my job. My clients got results. They trusted me. I showed up early, stayed late, and cared more than I probably should have for what I was making. I was exhausted in a way no amount of rest could fix. I couldn't see a version of myself at 40 still doing the same thing and feeling as if I was living up to my fullest potential.
The leap I took in 2017 wasn't a plan. It was a decision I made before I could talk myself out of it. What I found on the other side wasn't just more money. It was waking up with a reason to show up that I hadn't felt in years. Ultimately it has given me the chance to feel like I was finally getting ahead in life financially and given me the power to live life on my own terms.
The assessment is five minutes of honest questions, a chance to ask yourself the things I wish I had asked myself sooner, when I was unhappy as a trainer but didn't know what was next for me. Take a few moments to sit, reflect, and think of your answers. I want us both to know if leaving the personal training industry is right for you, and if a career in sales can do similar things for your life as it has for mine. If that's the case, I would love to help.
